FT began working with DomainSkate in 2014 when it became clear to David that the platform he initially built was not technologically scaleable nor meeting market needs. He needed a trusted partner experienced with big data applications that could rebuild the platform and lead ongoing development. In addition, he needed Product leadership that could help him pivot and evolve the business as he worked to develop a sustainable business model and find product-market fit. During our initial work together, we worked with him to transition from selling to small- and medium-sized businesses to enterprise businesses, and he continued to rely on us as a team that had experience both building and selling enterprise software.

We initially oversaw David’s freelance engineers, and then worked with them to transition to our own internal engineering team. Our Product & Engineering teams rebuilt the initial PHP platform in Python and greatly enhanced its feature set and its ability to scale and efficiently process and analyze hundreds of millions of domains every day. On the business side, we helped DomainSkate develop a robust sales operations playbook for the revamped product that helped the team acquire and maintain several important early enterprise clients as well as some key reselling partnerships. We also helped to develop a financially viable business model that increased the monthly subscription cost by 25x.
